Letting Go

Trapped in a cycle of grief, David uses a futuristic device to relive memories of his deceased boyfriend — but he must choose between a perfect digital dream and the painful reality of moving on.

"Getting back to whatever makes us us, after the passing of someone who reminded us that we were loved."

The grief of Her (2013).
The technology of Black Mirror.
The intimacy of Aftersun (2022).
I experience emotions intensely. I lost a grandmother who lived with me like a mother, and two aunts who were my safe space. I relive those feelings imagining losing my partner. This film is my tribute to that grief — and to the moment you choose to carry the memory forward instead of climbing back inside it.

David's last line — 'I am trying' — is the whole film. Carlos Montenegro · Director / Writer / Actor · carlosmontenegro.nl
